MARTIAL ART ABILITIES VS NON-LETHAL WEAPONS

Sadly, in the modern world we live in - and more especially in major cities with large public transit systems and parking lots - safety cannot always be assumed or assured. The smart commuter needs to be aware of his or her options when considering the best way to defend one's self against an unexpected attack. The options available are numerous, ranging from flight to confrontation, including armed and unarmed choices. Many self-defense professionals trust products such as Pepper Spray and Stun Guns or Tasers, which can be effective non-lethal methods of preserving one's safety.

Of course the most basic form of self-defense is flight: simply running away. When a person is faced with danger, fleeing the scene may seem the best option, in order to reach help or the safety of other people. When flight is not an option (such as if an attacker has cornered someone cornered, or if there are no people nearby to lend aid), one must consider ways to defend oneself successfully. Setting aside the use of a lethal weapon such as a knife or gun, pepper sprays, and stun guns and Tasers are the remaining possibilities.

Martial arts expertise has the benefit of not requiring any equipment - the body becomes the weapon. However, the downside is that learning an effective martial art (such as karate or judo) requires a substantial investment of time beforehand, as well as a moderate amount of physical fitness. It also requires that the person being attacked be within arm's length of an attacker, which could prove more dangerous if your assailant is armed.

The issue of distance is not so pressing with a canister of Red Pepper Spray, which can be effective at ranges up to 30 yards. However, a pepper spray can be easily overcome if the assailant is wearing any protection on the face, or if the aim is off. This problem with accuracy is not as important when considering a stun gun for personal defense. Applied in close quarters, weapons such as Stun Guns do not depend on physical fitness as a martial art does. Rather it delivers a sustained shock to an attacker and incapacitating them where as martial arts strike may only cause mild injury.

For those uncomfortable with getting close to an attacker, a better choice would be a Taser, allowing a deterring shock to be delivered at a distance. In this sense, the versatility of a Taser as a means of personal defense is a major plus.

When using any form of self defense always remember that your safety is the most important thing. Always seek help if you are in danger, and never let your self defense tools cause you to take unnecessary risks.  Tasers and other personal protection products can be found at http://www.onlyassafe.com.

PRE-EMPTIVE CRIME PREVENTION: DVR COVERT CAMERAS

It is always better to be prepared with tools like a DVR Covert Camera, than take a chance on safety.
Much like the best defense is a good offense, the best offense is a pro-active defense of your home or property. Being pro-active means being pre-emptive, that is, taking care of things before they happen. Some potential bad events never transpire because of careful forethought.
A DVR covert camera is a necessary component to any pro-active security solution. When it comes to protecting yourself and your loved ones, being the pre-emptive is most effective. After all, an ounce of prevention  can weigh more than a pound of cure. A covert camera can be a great way to prevent crime. Easy to set up and use, they make a wealth of information available. Their video records can be used to identify criminals for prosecution as well as prove to the insurance companies that your covered property really has been stolen or damaged.
With one of these in place, you can get a jump on incidents before they occur. With a DVR covert camera you will obtain a true picture of your security environment. These devices help you distinguish between your friends and your enemies. As an example, one of the most popular uses for a hidden camera has been to catch abusive babysitters and other caretakers in the act of criminal mischief. For many users, a vague gut feeling of unease has been confirmed through the judicious deployment of a hidden camera at home or in the office.  You should wait though until your intuition finally warns you that something is wrong. A well-placed video surveillance system can offer insight on almost any situation. Such a security set-up will also provide undisputable evidence in cases of actual malfeasance.
Crime prevention doesn't only concern physical assault. Employers can also use one of these devices to better ensure proper conduct on the job. Such security systems will help prevent theft and fraud. A video surveillance system can monitor customer-staff interactions and be helpful in situations involving complaints. These cameras are quick to install and require little maintenance. In addition, these crime preventing devices are available in all shapes, sizes, and guises - or, more to the point, disguises. They can be found in the most ordinary of everyday objects, from wall clocks to teddy bears! And with improvements in technology, they will continue to be available in an even wider range of helpful form factors.  DVR Covert Cameras can be found at http://www.onlyassafe.com.

STUN GUNS: QUICK SELF-DEFENSE

Any Mention "self-defense" more than likely brings images of Bruce Lee or Dirty Harry to mind instantly, but the reality is a lot more thought provoking (perhaps which helps to explain why such movies are so entertaining). Actually, for most of human history, self-defense was just another fact or part of life, another chore in life, and something of an everyday affair, too. More recently in our history in the beginning of our nation when our forefathers were building lives on the frontiers of this country, alertness while working was imperative with weapons on their persons or at hand - or both. Even as they forged ahead with peaceful intents, they continuously prepared for war or confrontation.
Self-defense should be taken up as a chore, then, a duty - to or for oneself, to or for one's loved ones. It is too often either something scary or something fun, thus putting off the right crowd and bringing along the wrong one. But taken as just another task in life, it can be seen in the proper light and then pursued properly, which is to say seriously, with respect and with focus.
In today's society or environment, self-defense is a lot more complicated and also at the same time a lot simpler. More simple because it doesn't necessarily involve eliminating one's enemy, as in times past, with blood feuds that can run several generations, but more complicated because it takes much more skill not to fatally harm someone. Actually, the true martial artist is one so masterful as to be able to finely tune his or her lethality. Such an ability is a whole skill-set in itself, requiring years of training at the least, never mind the innate aptitude and who knows what else!

A much simpler way is to employ non-lethal weapons, specifically those which only disables one's assailant(s), and only temporarily so, with no permanent damage. Certainly, it wouldn't do to win on the streets but lose in the courts! So this rules out firearms right away, and even knives, both of which have great potential for inflicting fatal injury. Everything considered, Stun guns, then, appear to be the best choice. Essentially they are non-lethal but definitely effective, capable of knocking someone out for up to a half hour at a time, even the ones on drugs. This gives plenty of time to get to safety or go for help.  Pepper spray is a much cheaper alternative that's almost as effective. Both options are great where not prohibited by law.  Stun Guns and other personal safety products can be found at http://www.onlyassafe.com

THE EFFECTIVENESS AND LETHALITY OF STUN GUNS

Definitely Stun guns are  powerful but they are also non-lethal, despite a few high-profile cases involving their use. Stun Gun theory is that the electrical charge temporarily disables the target, causing only non-damaging though painful muscular disruptions. Sometimes this is not the case, Thus the pattern of deaths arising from electroshock weapons, often employed by police officers whose departments had imagined the devices to be a safe option.
Manufacturers' instructions state a mere half-second shock is known to cause intense pain, with muscle contractions. As you might guess, the effects are exponentially magnified with each passing second of exposure, resulting in conditions of total exhaustion, with impaired breathing and even possible cardiac arrest. To guard against this, one manufacturer even builds its latest model with an automatic stop after a few seconds, requiring another pull of the trigger to send a further charge, as previous versions allowed for continual discharges by simply holding down the trigger.
Actually, this particular manufacturer, a pioneer in the electroshock weapons market, no longer advertises its products as being non-lethal, advising instead that they are, in effect, only less lethal. However, independent research has determined that stun guns do not interfere with devices such as pacemakers or implantable defibrilators. These tests, however, have only examined otherwise healthy subjects, and more research seems mandatory so as to arrive at a clearer conclusion.
Moreover, stun guns may not be the self-defense wonder weapons they're typically made out to be. There's also the concern, as with any product or service obtained for personal safety, that the user would wind up developing illusory feelings of security and power. After all, stun guns do require physical contact with the target, and such contact must be continuous for quite a few seconds. It's easy to imagine how aggressive, larger targets who are well-trained in close unarmed combat could very well overpower the user and then turn the stun gun against him or her! For despite the muscle spasms caused, any break in physical contact, when employing such stun guns, would result in enough of a respite for determined, physically strong aggressors to recover the initiative and prevail in hand-to-hand combat.

But all in all, having one should be preferable to not having any self-defense weapon at all, and stun guns are effective enough to get banned by some jurisdictions. Where legally available, stun gun owners should probably undertake specific technical training in their effective use.  Stun Guns and other personal safety products can be found at http://www.onlyassafe.com

WHAT TO KNOW WHEN BUYING SURVEILLANCE CAMERAS

Certainly, Surveillance equipment can be costly, especially if they are not chosen well. Anyone planning on purchasing a system for home security or to keep your business safe, should consider several important things before buying wireless hidden camera equipment:
Resolution is the capability of the camera to produce sharp or clear images. It is a special consideration if there is a need to focus on a subject, zoom in to a particular area or capture images for enlargement. These features are important if the camera will be placed in an area with low lighting.
Resolution is generally expressed in number - the higher the figure, the better the image it will produce. Of course the downside is that higher resolution lenses on hidden camera equipment tend to be expensive. The higher costs are well worth it, though. Look for a figure that can handle 400 or 420 lines at the very least.
The type of lens used will also determine the clarity of the image from hidden camera equipment. generally, a lens is either a CMOS or a CCD. Should you want better resolution even at conditions with less than ideal lighting conditions, choose a hidden camera operating with a CCD.
Range refers both to the working frequency of the equipment and the maximum distance at which it will be capable of transmitting signals. The frequency with which the equipment will work usually starts at 900 MHz and can go as high as 2.4 GHz.
Look for the frequency range that will not affect other electronic devices within the area where the equipment will be installed. Lower range camera equipment will usually interfere with common electronic items such as wireless phones, so it pays to find out if this is a concern.
Remember, range also refers to the effective distance that a hidden camera will be able to transmit signals to a receiver. The limit is usually indicated in feet or meters. Beyond the limit indicated, transmission is likely to be less than effective and might even fail. Simply, wireless or wired-
Wireless hidden camera equipment is more convenient, freeing up the user to choose virtually any location within or without the building. This Wireless equipment works by transmitting signals by radio frequency.
Wired systems use cables to connect one equipment to another and can provide a reliable means for surveillance. They require more work in terms of installation, however.

Lux rating refers to the capability of the camera to work in low light. The lower the Lux rating indicated, the more effective the hidden camera equipment will be in semi-darkness or total darkness.  Wireless hidden camera equipment can be found at http://www.onlyassafe.com.

HIDDEN CAMERA DETECTORS

Though they have been around for many years now, hidden cameras have been both the boon and the bane of civilization. Unfortunately, this technology has been used by unscrupulous individuals for their own dubious reasons -- to spy on other people, steal information or even record other people's activities to humiliate, to make fun of or even to blackmail. These things can be prevented from happening to you  or your loved ones by using  hidden camera detectors to determine whether any spy gadget is present. Individuals who will need hidden camera detectors are:
People living in rented houses or apartments. For most people, living in an apartment means sharing a building with other individuals and families. Certainly not every neighbor is a threat to your security, you might have individuals living near you who might be using a hidden camera to spy on you or record your activities.
It's also possible that there is already a hidden camera installed prior to your moving into the building, placed there by the former occupant or even an unscrupulous landlord.  AS hidden cameras are usually too tiny to be noticed, you will need this camera detector to find its exact location. If any surveillance system is installed in your house without your knowledge, a detector will easily find it in minutes with hidden camera detectors.
People working with sensitive information.  No matter Whether you work in an office or at home, keeping data safe from prying eyes is of utmost importance, particularly if the information you work with is sensitive, related to finances or contains entries that may be too personal. If you suspect that someone is trying to steal personal information from you, a hidden camera detector will help you eliminate any surveillance equipment.
People who travel frequently.  Anyone who travels and stays at small roadside motels, inns or hotels and wishs to ensure that no one is recording you secretly, use a hidden camera detector to seek out any spy equipment that may have been installed. Hidden camera detectors can sense electronic signals transmitted by equipment such as cameras, regardless of how tiny they are. If they are present in your room, the detector will find them.

People who use public bathrooms.  Of course, not every bathroom, toilet or washroom for public use presents a threat to personal privacy. Those bathrooms you use at gas stations or restaurants are generally safe and private. However, there are a few that may not be as safe as you think. Use a hidden camera detector to make sure that you are, indeed, using a private facility.  Hidden camera detectors can be found at http://www.onlyassafe.com.

HOW DOES PEPPER SPRAY WORK

It seems that Pepper sprays have become one of the foremost protection devices; especially among women.  'Seems Everyone is using this type of personal protection.  Indeed these users understand very little about their pepper spray. You can't blame these busy people. But You should have an idea of how it works in order to use it more accurately. There are several types of pepper spray that is just right for you like a clip-on  spray combo pack is an example of the compact  sprays.

Conversely a different kind of pepper spray is a pen-like spray. What seems to look like an ordinary fountain pen is actually a very lethal thing. Underneath the cap is a nozzle that can shoot a half-a-second spray with a range of 6 to 8 feet. This kind of pepper spray is loaded with just 10 shots. Sprays were first crammed inside simple canisters. And still, This traditional pepper spray is the most popular device you can bring with you for protection. One to two ounces of  spray can be discharged by a single canister. The small and potent pepper spray canister can shoot up to 12 feet of lethal spray.

It goes without saying that it's better when you're the one using the spray and that it isn't sprayed on you. The main composition of pepper spray is the oil which is taken from the placenta of a pepper, the name of this oil is Oleoresin Capsicum The heat generated by the oil is calculated in terms of Scoville Heat Units or SHUs. Esssentially, the higher the Scoville Heat Units, the more punch your pepper spray is going have. Just to show how useful pepper spray is in personal security, the Habanero can measure up to 325,000 Scoville Heat Units--and a lot of us already know, that the Habanero Pepper is a very hot pepper. However, several pepper spray products range from two million to five million Scoville Heat Units, if not more. That will let you understand how effective pepper spray can be.

These products have proven to be a safe, effective deterrent against all attackers, including those who are psychotic or under the influence of drugs or alcohol. They are the BEST restraint yet discovered against attacking dogs and wild animals. Pepper sprays also contain UV (ultraviolet) dye. It has been useful to law enforcement officials to identify criminals because it remains on the skin, even after repeated washings. All products contain only ingredients that have been laboratory tested and proven 100% safe when used against humans or animals.

Is the usage of a  Spray legal?

Yes, but you may not carry it on an airplane and some US states have pepper spray restrictions and formulation rules as mentioned below:  Massachusetts - you must have a Firearms Identification Card (FID) to possess and/or use pepper spray.   Michigan - specific pepper or tear gas formulations are required .  New York - pepper spray must be purchased from a New York state licensed firearm dealer or pharmacist.  Wisconsin - state formulations do not allow UV dye in pepper spray

NOTE: It is best to contact your state or local law enforcement department to know whether the usage of pepper spray is legal or not.

We live in a world, which is sadly very dangerous. Whether you're a man or woman looking for top self-protection equipment, or if you're just interested in adding more security with your own can of pepper spray, it's vital that you consider your own safety as well as the safety of your family. Spray products are inexpensive and can protect you if you are under personal attack.
